HOW IT WORKS

A FOOD CLUB WITH YOUR HEALTH IN MIND

When you join the Madison Eats Local Food Club, (that's what us regular folks call a "CSA") you are joining a community of people who value healthy food and healthy relationships.

Your membership fee entitles you to 25 weeks’ worth of fresh, local vegetables and fruits grown with care by Madison County farmers who use natural growing methods without synthetic pesticides or herbicides. Plus, you get eggs and chicken from 100% pastured animals raised humanely with no hormones, no GMOs, and no antibiotics.

With Wednesday pick-up locations in  "downtown"  Madison and Culpeper, members have a convenient and efficient way to feed themselves and their families with the freshest, most nutritious food available, all at budget-friendly prices.

WHO'S YOUR FARMER?

Meet Margaret Hutcheson and Diana Boeke. Together, with the rolled-eyed encouragement of their respective husbands, they founded Madison Eats Local Food Club in 2012, with a mission to get more healthy, no-nasty-chemicals, vitamin-and-mineral-rich, God-given REAL food into the bellies of our neighbors and friends, and their neighbors and friends.

If you add up the experience of their immediate and extended families, Margaret and Diana have over 200 years of gardening experience under their fingernails. (Wait, maybe that's dirt. )

This "organic duo" is committed to safe farming and soil-friendly practices. We use hoes and mulch and compost and cover crops to control weeds and improve soil. As a last resort for bug control, we use only organic-approved pesticides. (That stuff is expensive!) We grow varieties that we like to eat--you know, TASTY ones--and give each plant and customer plenty of TLC.

WHAT'S IN THE BAG?

Culpeper CSA, Madison CSA, CSA Virginia

Each week, members receive enough fresh veggies and usually some fruit to provide a family of 2-3 with a serving or two of vegetables or fruit daily. See examples in our archives.

We will update our "FLOG" (That's our webspeak for our Farm Log) periodically to share what's going on on our farm and what's in the hopper for your portions. But we'll send you an email each and every Monday with a detailed list of what will be in your bag that week, as well as what we've been up to in our gardens AND recipes!

But know that weather happens. Bugs happen. Bodily mishaps happen.  WE don't always end up providing exactly what we said we would on Monday. Nevertheless, we promise to give you what ever is ripest, freshest, and at its prime, picked at the last possible moment for delivery to you.
